After more than five years of ‘getting to know each other’, we finally tied the knot
in December 2003. We met each other whilst studying at Cambridge University. We started off as good friends, and then developed a ‘professional
relationship’ (we were both committee members on the India Society) and then… well you can guess the rest!
The choice of date for the wedding may seem unusual but we chose it to coincide with a break we were both taking in our careers… in the end, all
the planning ended up being a full-time job anyway! The main benefit of December though was that we avoided the wedding rush of the summer season, which meant we had a great
selection of available venues, caterers, musicians, etc. In the end, we ended up choosing the London Hilton on Park Lane for the wedding ceremony and reception – a nice and flexible venue that was
big enough to fit our 600 guests!
In the end, the wedding and other celebrations went
really well and we rewarded ourselves with a three-week honeymoon
in New Zealand, Sydney and a secluded South Pacific Island.
